Sir Murray Gordon Halberg biography

Sir Murray Gordon Halberg (born 7 July 1933) is a Sir Murray Gordon Halbergformer New Zealand middle distance runner. He won the Olympic 5000 metres title in 1960 between his two Commonwealth 3 miles titles and he set world records at 2 and 3 miles. He was fifth in mile at 58 CG, but won 3 miles when he beat the new Australian world record holder Albert Thomas. Retained title in 1962, when he beat a truly world-class field that included Ron Clarke, He won his Olympic Gold in the 1960, 5000 meters.
