Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman known as V.V.S. Laxman, is a former Indian cricketer. He born on 1 November 1974 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh in a Telugu Brahmin family. His parents are Physicians Dr. Shantaram and Dr. Satyabhama. He studied medical science but drop studies for playing professional cricket. His role model was former captain Mohammed Azharuddin.
Laxman made his debut in domestic cricket in 1992 for Hyderabad team against Punjab. In 1996 he made international test debut against South Africa. His ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 1998. Laxman is known for his 'wristy, willowy and sinuous style, one which is technically fluid at its best.
Mainly v.v.s laxman known for his batting performance against Australia. His record against Australia was better than any other teams. In both Tests and One Day Internationals. Six out of his 17 Test hundreds, and four out of his six ODI hundreds have come against Australia. His known performance was 281 when team India struggles at Kolkata in 2000–01 against Australia. He was the man of the match. The name very very special was given by Australian media.
This innings was ranked sixth in Wisden's list of 100 great Test innings in history.
His partnership with Rahul Dravid for 376 runs is the record partnership in 3rd innings of a test match for any wicket during a winning cause.

Laxman retired from international cricket on 18 August 2012. Become Wisden Cricketer of the Year, in 2002.

Personal life

He married G. R. Shailaja from Guntur on 16 February 2004. They have two children – a son, Sarvajit and a daughter, Achinthya. V V S is the great grand nephew of Indian former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, 2011.
Arjuna Award, by the Government of India in recognition of his outstanding achievement in sports, 2001.
Become Wisden Cricketer of the Year: 2002.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree on 4 February 2015 by Teri University, New Delhi
