Sachin Dev Burman known as S D burman was an Indian music composer, was one of the most well-renowned Bollywood film music composers. He was born in royal family of Tripura to Nirupama Devi, of Manipur and Nabadwipchandra Dev Burman, son of Maharaja Ishanachandra Manikya Dev Burman, Maharaja of Tripura, (r. 1849–1862). Burman was educated at Comilla Victoria College (B.A., 1924) and the University of Calcutta (M.A.).he received a master’s degree in English literature.
burman started his career in working as a radio singer on Calcutta Radio Station. As a music composer, he started with some Bengali plays, Sati Tirtha and Janani, and his first score in film, Rajgee in 1937, his second film Rajkumarer Nirbashan (1940) became a hit. He gave music in Bengali films like, Protishodh (1941), Abhoyer Biye (1942), and Chaddobeshi (1944) than he moved to Mumbai.
In Mumbai he worked in two films, "Shikari" (1946) and "Aath Din" (1946). From this, he began to give the music for more Hindi films. But than he face some bad days and moved back to Calcutta. He back to Mumbai in mid 50s became the music director for very successful films such as "Kagaz Ka Phool" (1959), and "Devdas" (1955) and Munimji (1955) and Paying Guest (1957). His famous movie are Tere Mere Sapne (1971), Sharmeelee (1971), Abhimaan (1973), Prem Nagar (1974), Sagina (1974), Chupke Chupke (1975), and Mili (1975), Bombai Ka Baboo (1960), Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963), Teen Devian (1965), Guide (1965) and Jewel Thief (1967).

He works with famous singers like Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Hemant Kumar, Asha Bhosle, lata mangeshkar etc.
He died on 31st October 1975. His song RD burman was also a famous Bollywood music composer.
