Willie Banks


Willie Banks (born March 11, 1956) is an American athlete. He has Willie Bankshowever, had mixed fortunes since becoming world student games champion in 1979.
Runner up at the 1983 world championship in Helsinki, where he jumped 17.17m to Poland’s zdzislaw Hoffman’s 17.42m, banks was hot favourite for the Olympic games in 1984. After four US records and two world low altitude bests from 1981 to 1985, he set a world record with 17.97m at the 1985 TAC championships in Indianapolis. He was awarded the Track & Field News and United States Olympic Committee Athlete of the Year in 1985.
