Ralph Boston (born May 9, 1939) is an American athlete. Boston R  was the man who broke jesse owens long jump record and becoming the first man to leap over 27ft. he won the Olympic title in 1960, in Rome. He was considered the world number one long jumper for eight seasons (1960-67). After retirement  he worked for the University of Tennessee as Coordinator of Minority Affairs and Assistant Dean of Students from 1968 to 1975.
