Navjot Singh Sidhu is a former Indian cricketer and was a Member of Parliament from Amritsar. His father Sardar Bhagwant Singh was a decent cricket player. He was selected for the 1987 Cricket World Cup in India scoring 73 on his One Day International debut in a losing effort against Australia. he decided to retired in 1999.

Personal life

He married to Navjot Kaur Sidhu a doctor and a member of Punjab Legislative Assembly.


Sidhu also made a appearance in the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, acted in a Punjabi movie Mera Pind with famous Punjabi singer Harbhajan Maan and comedians Gurpreet Ghuggi and Rana Ranbir.


Sidhu won from the Amritsar seat in the Indian general elections, 2004 on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket defeating his Congress candidate, State Finance Minister Surinder Singla, by 77,626 votes.
